This non-slip cutting board pad arrived folded in half with a sheet of card stock that had a waxy coating on one side against it, in a plastic sleeve. The paper peeled off easily enough, but it was a struggle to pull apart the pad. I finally decided to put it in a tub of warm soapy water. After it soaked for a bit, it was a little less resistant to being pulled apart. It rinsed well, and dried easily with a towel. It feels substantial and has substance to it without being too thick. I ordered this specifically for a 16” x 20” board I use for working dough for baking. I was using several small grippy jar-opener type sheets to hold it on my counter. They worked more or less, but I still had some slide. This very tacky pad is so much better. I do have to press the board into the pad a little, but then I am good to go. It also sticks very well to the counter, but once a corner is lifted, it peels off without difficulty and leaves a clean surface behind. My kitchen is quite small, so I do not have dedicated counter space for the board and I keep it stored. Due to its tacky surface, the pad picks up stray debris and needs to be stored carefully to keep it clean. I don’t want a repeat of the first time I opened it, so I lay a sheet of wax paper on one side and roll it up. The paper keeps it from sticking to itself, allowing it to be easily unrolled and used the next time. I am very pleased with how well this works. Of course, I also use it for cutting boards, and it makes working on my granite countertops much easier. I am so glad I have it.
